CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of breast cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Appraise published efficacy and safety data with PARP inhibitors in patients with metastatic breast cancer harboring a BRCA1/2 mutation, and consider the diagnostic and therapeutic implications for nonresearch care.
    • Appreciate the biologic rationale for and available data with the use of PARP inhibitors in combination with chemotherapy, and consider the clinical and research implications for breast cancer management.
    • Compare and contrast the toxicities associated with PARP inhibitors commonly used in the care of patients with breast cancer, and offer supportive management strategies to minimize or ameliorate these side effects.
    • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating investigational PARP inhibitors and novel applications of PARP inhibitors alone or in combination with other systemic approaches (eg, immunotherapy, chemotherapy) for breast cancer, and counsel appropriate patients about availability and participation.
