CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of breast cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Appreciate the key clinical variables that affect the use of preoperative therapy and the selection of a specific neoadjuvant therapeutic regimen for patients with HER2-overexpressing localized breast cancer, and integrate this information into treatment decision-making.
    • Evaluate published research data to guide the selection and duration of adjuvant and extended-adjuvant therapy for patients with HER2-overexpressing localized breast cancer.
    • Implement a long-term clinical plan for the management of advanced HER2-positive breast cancer, incorporating existing and recently approved targeted agents and regimens.
    • Design an optimal approach to the clinical care of patients with HER2-positive breast cancer and CNS metastases, considering the implications of prior therapeutic exposure, symptomatology and other factors.
    • Recognize common and rare side effects associated with existing and recently approved anti-HER2 agents, and use this information to develop supportive management plans for patients undergoing treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer.
    • Assess ongoing clinical studies evaluating novel agents and treatment strategies under development for HER2-positive breast cancer, and counsel patients regarding the potential benefits of trial participation.
