  This activity is intended for gynecologic oncologists, medical oncologists, gynecologists and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of gynecologic cancers.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Consider available data supporting the FDA approval of olaparib alone or with bevacizumab as maintenance after first-line chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer, and counsel patients regarding personalized treatment recommendations.
  • Recognize the recent FDA approval of niraparib as maintenance therapy for advanced ovarian cancer with or without BRCA mutation in the first-line setting, and identify patients for whom treatment with this agent may be appropriate.
  • Appraise available data with olaparib as maintenance therapy for patients with platinum-sensitive, recurrent ovarian cancer and BRCA mutations, and counsel appropriate patients about the risks and potential benefits of this approach.
  • Recall available data with and ongoing research evaluating immune checkpoint inhibitors in combination with PARP inhibitors, chemotherapy or other targeted therapies.
  • Compare and contrast the toxicities associated with PARP inhibitors commonly used in the care of patients with ovarian cancer, and offer supportive management strategies to minimize or ameliorate these side effects.
