CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Develop an evidence-based strategy for the treatment of resectable or borderline-resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAD), exploring the role of neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy regimens.
    • Consider age, performance status, prior therapeutic exposure and other clinical and logistical factors in the selection and sequencing of systemic therapy for patients with locally advanced or metastatic PAD.
    • Appreciate the efficacy and tolerability profiles of nanoliposomal irinotecan (nal-IRI) for treatment-refractory metastatic PAD, and optimally incorporate this agent into patient-care algorithms.
    • Assess available data from the Phase III POLO trial evaluating olaparib versus placebo as maintenance therapy for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer with germline BRCA mutations whose disease has not progressed on first-line platinum-based chemotherapy, and optimally incorporate this FDA-approved strategy into current management algorithms.
    • Implement a plan of care to recognize and manage side effects associated with approved systemic regimens commonly employed in the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic PAD, to support quality of life and continuation of therapy.
