• TARGET AUDIENCE
  This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of melanoma.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Assess available efficacy and safety findings with anti-LAG-3 antibodies in combination with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies for patients with advanced melanoma in order to optimally integrate this strategy into the treatment armamentarium.
  • Develop an understanding of the scientific rationale for the development of autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy as a means to eliminate cancer cells, and appraise existing data with and the potential role of this approach in the treatment of advanced melanoma.
  • Appreciate the biologic rationale for combining immune checkpoint inhibitors with agents targeting the VEGF axis in patients with advanced melanoma, and assess published clinical trial findings with this strategy to discern whether it has a current or potential role in practice.
  • Recognize common adverse events associated with available and investigational novel therapies for melanoma, and advise patients about the potential for complications.
  • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel immunotherapeutic strategies for advanced melanoma, and counsel appropriate patients about availability and participation.
