CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of lung cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Recognize the spectrum of oncogenic alterations, beyond those associated with EGFR, ALK and ROS1, identifiable in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and determine how these may predict potential response to novel targeted therapies.
    • Consider the recent FDA approval of selpercatinib for patients with RET-driven metastatic NSCLC, and consider how this agent can be appropriately and safely integrated into clinical practice.
    • Evaluate available clinical trial findings supporting the FDA approvals of capmatinib and tepotinib for metastatic NSCLC with MET exon 14 skipping mutations, and identify patients who might benefit from these agents.
    • Recall the biologic rationale for and available data with HER2-directed therapy for NSCLC with HER2 alterations, and discern the current and potential clinical applicability of this strategy.
    • Appreciate the frequency of KRAS G12C mutation in patients with NSCLC, and evaluate the mechanism of action and potential role of novel therapies targeting this genetic alteration.
    • Recognize common side effects associated with available and emerging novel targeted agents for patients with NSCLC, and formulate supportive strategies to minimize and manage these toxicities.
