  This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of hepatocellular cancer.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Consider age, performance status, degree of liver function and other clinical and logistical factors in the selection of first-line therapy for patients with unresectable or metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
  • Appreciate Phase III data evaluating combination treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors and agents targeting the VEGF axis as first-line therapy for unresectable or metastatic HCC, and discuss how available regimens can be optimally integrated into clinical care.
  • Evaluate the rationale for and available data with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with anti-CTLA-4 antibodies for HCC to determine the current and potential future role of these novel regimens.
  • Establish an evidence-based approach to the selection and sequencing of available therapeutic options for progressive HCC.
  • Maintain an understanding of the side effects and toxicities associated with targeted agents and immunotherapeutic approaches for the management of advanced HCC, and intervene with early and effective responses to various adverse events.
  • Recall available and emerging data with investigational agents and strategies currently in clinical testing for HCC.
