    This activity is intended for hematologists, medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of breast cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Consider available data to guide the use of biomarkers and genomic classifiers in assessing risk and customizing therapy for patients with localized hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.
    • Assess the utility of the 21-gene Recurrence Score® (RS) and other available genomic assays in counseling patients with ER-positive, HER2-negative early breast cancer about their risk of recurrence and the potential benefits of adjuvant chemotherapy.
    • Appraise the effects of clinical risk factors such as tumor size and cancer stage on the assessment of benefit from chemotherapy by age and RS for patients with early breast cancer.
    • Understand the prognostic and predictive utility of the 21-gene assay for patients with ER-positive, HER2-negative, node-positive breast cancer, and identify those who might be appropriate candidates for the test.
    • Recall the design and eligibility criteria for ongoing clinical trials evaluating the role of genomic assays in the management of breast cancer, and enroll or refer appropriate patients for study participation.
