• TARGET AUDIENCE
  This activity is intended for hematologists, medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of lung cancer.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Recognize the spectrum of oncogenic alterations identifiable in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase domain, and determine how these alterations may predict potential response or lack thereof to available EGFR-directed therapies.
  • Understand the biology of EGFR exon 20 insertions to appreciate why patients with these alterations do not respond to commercially available EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).
  • Assess the biologic rationale for, available data with and potential therapeutic applicability of the dual-targeting EGFR-MET bispecific antibody amivantamab for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring an EGFR exon 20 insertion.
  • Evaluate the mechanisms of action and published research data with the novel EGFR TKIs mobocertinib and poziotinib for patients with NSCLC and EGFR exon 20 insertions, and consider how these therapies may fit into future clinical management algorithms.
  • Recall the design and eligibility criteria for ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel therapeutic approaches for patients with NSCLC and EGFR exon 20 insertions, and where applicable, enroll or refer appropriate individuals for study participation.
