CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical and radiation oncologists, nurses, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of ER-positive metastatic breast cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Evaluate relevant biological, patient-related and treatment-related factors to personalize the selection and sequencing of therapy for ER-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer (mBC) progressing on first-line treatment with a CDK4/6 inhibitor in combination with endocrine therapy.
    • Recognize the frequency of ESR1 mutations among patients with ER-positive mBC, and employ evidence-based approaches designed to target these aberrations in ER-positive, HER2-negative, ESR1-mutated disease.
    • Appreciate the incidence, characteristics and clinical relevance of HER2-low mBC, and understand available and emerging management approaches for this disease subset.
    • Examine published Phase III research findings documenting the efficacy of various novel agents for progressive ER-positive mBC, such as selective estrogen receptor degraders, AKT inhibitors and antibody drug conjugates, to determine the potential clinical applicability of these approaches.
    • Assess ongoing clinical studies evaluating investigational agents and treatment strategies under development for ER-positive mBC, and counsel patients regarding the potential benefits of trial participation.
