  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of renal cell carcinoma.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Effectively apply clinical research findings and other clinical and biologic factors in the best-practice selection of first-line therapy for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC).
    • Recall the FDA approval of anti-PD-1/anti-CTLA-4 combination therapy as first-line treatment for mRCC, and counsel patients regarding the risks and benefits of this novel approach.
    • Develop strategies to appropriately integrate anti-PD-1/PD-L1 and multikinase-inhibitor therapy regimens into therapy for patients with previously untreated mRCC.
    • Develop a rational approach to the sequencing of systemic therapies for patients with advanced RCC who experience disease progression on first-line treatment, incorporating multikinase inhibitors, mTOR inhibitors, immunotherapeutic agents and other approaches.
    • Recognize side effects and toxicities commonly associated with approved therapeutic approaches for RCC, and use this information to develop supportive care plans for patients undergoing treatment with these agents and regimens.
    • Recall available and emerging data with other investigational agents and strategies currently in testing for RCC, and appropriately refer eligible patients for clinical trial participation.
