CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Develop a greater understanding of the incidence, biology and pathophysiology of secondary acute myeloid leukemia (sAML).
    • Analyze patient-specific factors and available clinical trial data guiding the selection of induction therapy for sAML to optimize clinical and quality-of-life outcomes.
    • Recognize the FDA-approved indications for CPX-351 in patients with newly diagnosed therapy-related AML or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes, and discern how this agent can be optimally integrated into nonresearch care algorithms.
    • Recall available data with venetoclax in combination with azacitidine, decitabine or low-dose cytarabine for patients with newly diagnosed AML not eligible for intensive therapy, and explore the role of venetoclax in the treatment of sAML.
    • Recognize the side effects and toxicities associated with CPX-351 for patients with sAML, and develop strategies to manage and mitigate treatment-related adverse events.
    • Appreciate published research findings and clinical investigator perspectives regarding the benefits and risks of outpatient administration of induction therapy for sAML, and evaluate the applicability of this approach in various practice settings.
