    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Appreciate the prevalence and clinical relevance of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) amplification and overexpression in various solid tumors, and consider the implications for biomarker assessment and clinical management.
    • Review published research findings with established HER2-targeted therapies for patients with HER2-positive gastrointestinal cancers beyond gastroesophageal cancer, and assess the current nonresearch role of various agents.
    • Compare and contrast the toxicities associated with HER2-targeted agents and regimens in patients with HER2-positive gastrointestinal cancers, and offer supportive management strategies to minimize or ameliorate these side effects.
    • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel HER2-directed agents and strategies for advanced HER2-positive cancers, and appropriately counsel patients about availability and participation.
