  This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of ovarian cancer.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Recognize the rationale for targeting folate receptor alpha in ovarian cancer, and consider available research findings with and the potential role of novel approaches that therapeutically exploit this biomarker.
  • Describe the scientific rationale for the use of tumor treating fields (TTFields) as a therapeutic approach for patients with ovarian cancer, and appraise the available efficacy and safety data with TTFields in combination with chemotherapy for recurrent, advanced disease.
  • Appreciate the incidence of sodium-dependent phosphate transport protein 2b in patients with ovarian cancer, and discern how novel therapies targeting this biomarker may be beneficial in the treatment of progressive disease.
  • Compare and contrast the toxicities associated with novel agents under development for ovarian cancer, and offer supportive management strategies to minimize or ameliorate these side effects.
  • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel agents and strategies for ovarian cancer, and appropriately counsel patients about availability and participation.

  Successful completion of these CME activities, which includes participation in the evaluation components and short post-tests, enables the participant to earn up to 0.75 (audio), 0.5 (video) and 1 (lecture) Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
