CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for hematologists, medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Individualize the selection of systemic therapy for patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed or refractory (R/R) chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), considering clinical presentation, biomarker profile, coexisting medical conditions and patient preferences.
    • Discuss available Phase III data demonstrating the superior efficacy and safety of BTK (Bruton tyrosine kinase) inhibition compared to standard chemoimmunotherapy as first-line therapy for patients with CLL, and use this information to discern how this strategy can be optimally integrated into nonresearch treatment.
    • Appraise the Phase III data supporting the FDA approval of acalabrutinib for R/R CLL, and identify patients for whom treatment with this agent may be appropriate.
    • Assess available data demonstrating the efficacy and safety of venetoclax-based regimens for newly diagnosed or R/R CLL, and use this information to identify patients who may be appropriate for this approach.
    • Implement a plan of care to recognize and manage side effects and toxicities associated with recently approved and emerging systemic therapies employed in the management of CLL.
    • Appreciate available efficacy and safety data with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy for patients with R/R CLL, and consider its potential clinical role.
    • Recall available and emerging data with other agents, combinations and strategies currently under investigation for CLL, and where applicable, refer eligible patients for trial participation.
