CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of mesothelioma.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Consider the benefits, risks and long-term outcomes associated with current local and systemic treatment modalities in the management of resectable or unresectable malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) when counseling patients about therapeutic recommendations.
    • Evaluate Phase III data documenting the efficacy of the recently approved combination of nivolumab and ipilimumab for patients with previously untreated MPM, and appraise the current role of this regimen in practice.
    • Describe the scientific rationale for the use of tumor treating fields (TTFs) as a therapeutic approach for patients with MPM.
    • Assess available efficacy and safety data with TTFs in combination with chemotherapy as first-line therapy for patients with unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic MPM in order to make an informed decision regarding the incorporation of this treatment modality into clinical practice.
    • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel therapeutic strategies for MPM, and counsel appropriate patients about availability and participation.
