International Hematologic Oncology Tumor Board: Practical Perspectives on Current Challenging Cases of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma

A Friday Two-Part Satellite Symposia Series preceding the 53rd ASH Annual Meeting

This unique 2-part symposia series will explore the current clinical ambiguities and multidisciplinary challenges faced by clinicians around the globe routinely caring for patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (Part I) and multiple myeloma (Part II). To achieve this goal, RTP will recruit community-based oncologists or hematologists from various parts of the world (United States, Europe, South/Central America and/or Asia) to consult on the project. Before the meeting, these individuals will identify from their practices interesting cases of follicular lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, mantle-cell lymphoma, T-cell lymphoma and myeloma (both transplant eligible and ineligible). The consulting oncologists/hematologists will also assemble the cross-functional treatment team, including the pathologist, radiologist and secondary hematologic oncologist (if needed) responsible for the comprehensive management of each identified case. All members of the team will participate in a special “tumor board” recording session in which they will discuss all relevant aspects of the cases. These discussions will be video recorded and edited for presentation at both live events.

Each meeting will be divided into 6 modules, each structured around 1 of the cases. To begin each module, video footage from the “tumor board” will be broadcast, followed by additional discussion and clarification about the case from the consulting oncologist. The results of a premeeting survey completed by audience members using networked PDAs will then be displayed, and one of the faculty members will deliver a short lecture reviewing clinical research and ongoing trials relevant to the patient in question. A moderated panel discussion will close each module and provide an array of additional perspectives on the optimal management strategies for that clinical situation.
