  This program is intended for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of lung cancer.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Acknowledge available and emerging clinical trial findings with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) for nonmetastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with an EGFR mutation, and identify patients for whom treatment with this novel approach would be warranted.
  • Develop an optimal approach to the care of patients with newly diagnosed metastatic NSCLC with an EGFR mutation, considering the implications of recent data sets, mutation type, symptomatology, sites and extent of metastases and other factors.
  • Describe mechanisms of tumor resistance to EGFR TKIs, and discern how available and investigational therapies can be optimally employed in the protocol and nonresearch care of patients with progressive NSCLC with an EGFR mutation.
  • Understand the biology of EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations, and optimally incorporate currently available agents into the care of patients with these abnormalities.
  • Assess the efficacy and safety of EGFR inhibitors in patients with NSCLC with an EGFR mutation and CNS metastases, and determine the optimal integration of these agents in the management of this subgroup of patients.
  • Evaluate MET exon 14 skipping mutations as potential driver mutations for NSCLC, and identify candidates for therapy with novel MET inhibitors.
  • Consider available research information and guideline recommendations to individualize first- and later-line therapy for patients with NSCLC and a HER2 mutation or amplification.
  • Recall other cellular targets (eg, TROP2, HER3) under clinical investigation for NSCLC, and consider published data with investigational agents exploiting these targets.

  Successful completion of these CME activities, which includes participation in the evaluation components and a short post-test, enables the participant to earn up to 1.75 (audio) and 1.25 (video) Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for each activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
