  • TARGET AUDIENCE
    This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of gastric, gastroesophageal junction and esophageal cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Use HER2 status, PD-L1 combined positive score, clinical factors, patient preferences and an understanding of new data to personalize first-line therapy for locally advanced or metastatic gastric, gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) and esophageal cancer.
    • Describe the published research findings with immune checkpoint inhibitors alone or in combination with chemotherapy for the management of gastric, GEJ and esophageal cancer, and optimally integrate these strategies into nonresearch treatment algorithms.
    • Optimally incorporate available therapeutic agents and regimens into the clinical care of patients with HER2-negative metastatic gastric, GEJ or esophageal cancer who have experienced disease progression on front-line chemotherapy or chemoimmunotherapy.
    • Appraise clinical trial findings supporting the use of adjuvant anti-PD-1 antibody therapy for patients with resected esophageal or GEJ cancer who have received neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy and have residual disease, and discern the clinical applicability of this treatment strategy.
    • Recall available data with novel HER2-targeted agents and strategies for newly diagnosed and previously treated HER2-overexpressing gastric or GEJ cancer, and identify patients who may be appropriate for these approaches.
    • Recognize common and rare side effects associated with approved and investigational agents used in the care of patients with gastroesophageal cancers, and apply this information to develop appropriate and effective supportive management plans.
    • Review the rationale for, available data with and ongoing research studies evaluating novel agents and strategies for gastroesophageal cancers, and effectively prioritize clinical trial opportunities for eligible patients.
