CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is intended for medical and radiation oncologists, nurses, hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows, general and gastrointestinal surgeons and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Evaluate recently presented clinical research findings to determine their effect on the current management of localized or advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
    • Consider age, performance status, degree of liver function and other clinical and logistical factors in the selection of first- and later-line therapy for patients with unresectable or metastatic HCC.
    • Appreciate Phase III data leading to the FDA approvals of novel first-line treatment strategies for unresectable or metastatic HCC, and discuss how they can be optimally integrated into patient care.
    • Evaluate the rationale for and available data with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with anti-CTLA-4 antibodies for HCC to determine the current role of these novel regimens.
    • Establish an evidence-based approach to the selection and sequencing of available therapeutic options for patients with progressive HCC.
    • Recall recently presented clinical trial results with anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy in combination with anti-VEGF therapy for patients with HCC and a high risk of recurrence after curative resection or ablation, and consider the potential role of this strategy in clinical practice.
    • Review available and emerging data with agents and strategies currently in clinical testing for HCC, and appropriately refer eligible patients for trial participation.
