• TARGET AUDIENCE
  This program is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows, surgeons and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluate recently presented clinical research findings to determine their effect on the current care of patients with localized or metastatic gastrointestinal cancers.
  • Optimize adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with localized colorectal cancer (CRC), considering the influence of various clinical and biological factors such as age, performance status and stage.
  • Develop a long-term care plan for patients diagnosed with metastatic CRC, considering biomarker profile, tumor location, prior systemic therapy, symptomatology and personal goals of treatment.
  • Use HER2 status, PD-L1 combined positive score, claudin 18.2 expression and other clinical and biological factors to optimize the selection and sequencing of systemic therapy for patients with gastric, gastroesophageal junction and esophageal cancers.
  • Evaluate available data documenting the efficacy and safety of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibody therapy in combination with chemotherapy as first-line treatment for advanced biliary tract cancers, and consider the role of this therapeutic strategy.
  • Recall clinical trial data with approved and investigational systemic interventions for patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and establish an evidence-based approach to treatment selection.
  • Appreciate available and recently updated Phase III data with novel first-line treatment strategies for unresectable or metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma, and discuss how these regimens can be optimally integrated into patient care.
  • Appraise available and emerging data with investigational agents and strategies currently in testing for gastrointestinal cancers, and as applicable, refer eligible patients for clinical trial participation.

  Successful completion of these CME activities, which includes participation in the evaluation components and a short post-test, enables the participant to earn up to 1.75 (audio) and 1.25 (video) Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for each activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
