CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of lung cancer.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Appraise available data supporting the recent FDA approvals of first-line nivolumab in combination with ipilimumab with and without chemotherapy for patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without EGFR or ALK alterations, and incorporate these novel regimens into current treatment algorithms.
    • Review recent therapeutic advances related to the use of other anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies as monotherapy or in combination with chemotherapy for patients with metastatic NSCLC without targetable mutations.
    • Consider performance status, prior therapeutic exposure, disease-free interval and other patient- or disease-related factors in the selection of systemic therapy for patients with metastatic NSCLC without actionable mutations.
    • Educate patients about the unique side effects associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors in the management of metastatic NSCLC, and develop strategies to prevent, reduce or manage them.
    • Recall the available data with and ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel agents and strategies for metastatic NSCLC without a tumor driver mutation, and counsel appropriate patients about availability and participation.
