CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of melanoma.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Develop an understanding of the biologic rationale for targeting immune checkpoints beyond PD-1/PD-L1 and CTLA-4 in melanoma, and recognize the mechanisms of action of various investigational products that have shown promise in this regard.
    • Assess available efficacy and safety findings with anti-LAG-3 antibodies in combination with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies for patients with advanced melanoma in preparation for the potential integration of this strategy into the treatment armamentarium.
    • Recall the mechanisms of action of, available data with and ongoing research evaluating other novel therapies demonstrating potential synergy with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in the treatment of melanoma.
    • Appreciate the biologic rationale for combining immune checkpoint inhibitors with agents targeting the VEGF axis for patients with advanced melanoma, and assess published clinical trial findings with this strategy to discern whether it has a current or potential role in practice.
    • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating other novel immunotherapeutic strategies for early and advanced melanoma, and counsel appropriate patients about availability and participation.
