  This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of desmoid tumors.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the incidence, risk factors, etiology and clinical presentation of desmoid tumors to optimally diagnose patients with this disease.
  • Assess available clinical evidence documenting the efficacy and safety of various local and systemic management approaches for desmoid tumors and determine the current indications for the use of these strategies.
  • Evaluate the scientific rationale for targeting the gamma secretase complex and Notch pathway as a therapeutic approach for desmoid tumors and review the mechanism of action of nirogacestat.
  • Appreciate available Phase III efficacy and safety findings with the utilization of nirogacestat for patients with progressing desmoid tumors in preparation for the potential commercial availability of this novel agent.
  • Recognize the spectrum, frequency and severity of adverse events associated with nirogacestat as well as supportive care strategies available to minimize and/or manage resultant toxicities.
  • Recall the designs of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel agents and strategies for patients with desmoid tumors and counsel appropriate patients about availability and participation.
