CE Information and Faculty Disclosures

  • TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, hematology-oncology fellows, surgeons and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Appreciate the prevalence and relevance of HER2 amplification and overexpression in various gastrointestinal cancers, and consider the implications for biomarker assessment and clinical management.
    • Review published research findings with established HER2-targeted therapies for patients with HER2-positive gastroesophageal cancers, and assess the current nonresearch role of various agents and regimens.
    • Recall available data with novel HER2-targeted agents and strategies for patients with previously treated HER2-overexpressing metastatic colorectal cancer, and optimally identify candidates who may be appropriate for these approaches.
    • Evaluate available clinical trial findings with HER2-directed therapies for patients with HER2-positive biliary tract cancers, and contemplate the current and future utility of these agents/regimens for appropriately selected individuals.
    • Recall the design of ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel HER2-directed agents and strategies for advanced HER2-positive gastrointestinal cancers, and counsel appropriate candidates about availability and participation.
