  This program is intended for medical and radiation oncologists, urologists and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of hepatobiliary cancers.
  
  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Interrogate recently presented trial results establishing the benefit of anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy in combination with anti-VEGF therapy as adjuvant treatment for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and a high risk of recurrence after curative resection or ablation, and consider the potential role of this strategy in clinical practice.
  • Evaluate emerging Phase III trial results with anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy in combination with anti-VEGF therapy and transarterial chemoembolization for patients with unresectable HCC who are eligible for embolization.
  • Appreciate published and recently updated Phase III data with immune checkpoint inhibitors as first-line therapy for unresectable or metastatic HCC, and discuss how available regimens can be optimally integrated into patient care.
  • Understand the rationale for and available data with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies in combination with anti-CTLA-4 antibodies for patients with HCC, and determine the current role of these novel regimens in clinical practice.
  • Discuss the biological justification for the evaluation of immune checkpoint inhibitors for patients with advanced biliary tract cancers (BTCs), and provide appropriate counsel regarding the risks and benefits of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibody-based approaches as first-line treatment.
  • Recall available and emerging data with immune checkpoint inhibitor-based strategies currently in clinical testing for HCC and BTCs, and refer eligible patients for trial participation.
